Blueberry Crumble

Mix up the filling ingredients in the bottom of a bread pan.

Filling (adapted from AllRecipes.com)
1 pint fresh blueberries
1 tbsp corn starch
1/4 cup sugar

Blend the topping ingredients in a food processor. When it starts to come together, dump it out on top of the filling.

Topping (adapted from Pioneer Woman)
3 tbsp butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pecans
1/4 cup flour

Bake at 400 degrees until the topping sets and the filling looks like pie filling, about 30 minutes.

This is about 1,500 calories. So maybe don't eat the whole thing in 24 hours like I did. Oh, the shame! The delicious, delicious shame!

Coconut Cranberry Apple Cobbler

I made and photographed this long enough ago that I can't even remember exactly how I made it. Well, crap. Basically, chop up your apples and mix in some cinnamon as usual. But before you add the yummy cobbler topping, spread out a layer of dried cranberries and unsweetened coconut. Add the strusel as usual and bake until done. This is one of the best cobblers I've ever made!

Sorry about the short hiatus. I hope you all like roller derby photos because you're about to get a flood of them.

Feetures Socks

In many ways, I am no fun. I'm terrified of trampolines and water slides, so I won't do either. Being vegetarian makes it impossible to take me to a BBQ joint here in Kansas City. And when it comes to roller derby, I don't wear cute tall socks.

Really, I hardly even own cute tall socks. They make my shins sweat. No joke. I also have big calves, so a lot of them don't even fit, or they dig into my ginormous skating muscles. In short, I have a laundry list of reasons and excuses why I don't wear cute socks.

Instead, I have invested in a few pairs of fancypants running socks. Ever since then, I rarely get blisters or other owies on my feet.  For the longest time, I only had a pair for gameday, but I finally picked up two more. I've been wanting to blog about these for a while, but couldn't until I remembered what they were called.

So here they are in the package.

And here they are on my feet. I hope you don't hate feet. If you do, I will just promise not to show you my feet again for a really long time.

The ultra-light-cushion, no-show-tab grey ones are my favorite so far, with only having compared them to the light-cushion black ones. They don't slide around on my feet or make me sweat extra or stretch out when washed.

Monkey Wrench Again: Decisions!

I've blogged before about how much I love Monkey Wrench Clothing, but I must do so again.

I mean, just look at this Hell Bunny unicorn dress!

It was cute without a petticoat.

And even better with one!

I also really wanted this Hell Bunny dress, and she only had one. And it was my size! Stupid budget.

This is what I fell in love with. Yes, those are zombies. And bombers. Bomber zombie pinups!

Made cuter with a short petticoat. I was smitten.

I wore it out to a good friend's birthday that night. For the occasion, I tried to do my hair up fancy. It kinda sort worked.

Add makeup and a cardigan.

As much as my hair skills leave something to be desired, I'm pretty happy with my makeup application lately.

It was cold outside, so I added tights, tall boots, and a motorcycle jacket. Before you think I spend a fortune on all my clothes, I will admit that I do love to splurge on dresses and petticoats. But the boots were $35 in college and I still wear them. The jacket is Bebe brand but was $20 at a garage sale a few years ago. The cardigan was free from a clothing swap. Build your splurge pieces into an outfit with thrifty finds!

My style is often out of place, but I just freakin' loved this.

Now, the rest of you go snatch up those cute unicorn dresses and wear the crap out of them for me!
