Finally: My Roller Derby Tattoo

So you know how I thought I was getting laid off from my job, so I went and got a heart tattooed on my "sleeve"? Well, I still love the idea, but the spur-of-the-moment artwork was not the best. The linework is okayish, whereas the rest of my tattoos are fortunately quite good.

I've been wanting a roller derby tattoo for about two years now, but wanted to wait until I'd been a rostered skater long enough to feel legit. When I went to Jason at Mercy Seat for my bird last month, I made an appointment to add to the heart to make it a derby piece.

February 2012 vs. June 2013

KC Derby Digest took these photos. The left is from my first bout as a skater in February 2012. The right is from Saturday night, June 2013. There is about 30 pounds difference between the two. I feel like I should care, but I kind of don’t. I’m a better skater and a happier person today than a year and a half ago.

Nightblogging and the Pizza Omelette

Or is it the Omelette Pizza?

Let this be a warning kids, nightblogging can be a beautiful, beautiful thing.

I started with an ordinary omelette base of two eggs and some shredded cheese. Then I stirred in some basil-from-a-jar, some jarlic (garlic-from-a-jar, for the uninitiated), and some finely cut up roasted red peppers (you guessed itfrom a jar).

During the last minute or so that the eggs were cooking, I dropped a slice of pita bread in the toaster and nuked some tomato sauce in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Then I began to assemble my creation.

I added parmesan cheese (the real stuff, not the powder) and some turkey pepperonis.

Behold my new favorite food.

I wasn't sure how this would turn out. I'd never tried putting basil or garlic in scrambled eggs before but it ended up being ridiculously delicious. Everything worked incredibly well together. I wish I'd had some mushrooms to top it off with, but it was wonderful even without them.

So, did I just invent the Pizza Omelette?

Ingredients I Used:
Pita Bread
Two Eggs
Shredded Cheese
Basil (from a jar)
Roasted Red Peppers (from a jar)
Tomato Sauce
Parmesan Cheese
Turkey Pepperoni
